By air: * Advise: Not only low fare carriers but also most of the conventional airlines offer special rates for early bookings. * The fastest way to reach the Novotel from Ferihegy Airport is by taxi. It takes between 30-45 minutes and costs about 17 EUR in local currency, therefore exchange money before leaving the airport. Reliable taxi companies are Citytaxi and Fotaxi; make sure they have a taxi metre. * Another way to reach the hotel is by Airport Shuttle service. LRI is the Airport Minibus, available everyday from 6:00 until midnight. Tickets may be purchased in the arrival level passenger hall of Ferihegy Airport on the LRI counter. By train:
Budapest has direct rail links to 25 capitals. There are more than 50 international connections each day. Trains depart every 3 hours between Budapest-Vienna, with travel time of less than 2 1/2 hours.
By car:
Of the four motorways and four highways in Hungary, seven depart from Budapest (motorway N°8 is the exception). Drivers are obliged to purchase a motorway sticker for the motorways M1, M3, M5 and M7 (obtained at the border crossing points and major petrol stations). The Hungarian Highway Code (KRESZ) is based on the Vienna and Geneva Convention, and therefore traffic signs and road markings are similar to those found in other European countries.
The Forint (FT or HUF) is the Hugarian currency and the exchange rate is about 250 FT per 1€ Exchanging money is only permitted in licensed, designated places.
